Description
Originally from Finland, this variety of gooseberry, along with its yellow sister variety, is particularly resistant to mildew and a great all-rounder. Great for both eating and cooking, it produces a heavy crop of ruby red berries with a sweet taste, inside the slightly tangy skin. 

 

Planting Position
Very easy to grow and will thrive in a variety of soil types except water logged areas. Very happy in a sunny position and can also br grown in containers to restrict spread. As with most gooseberries, these are a great hit with birds, so be sure to cover them if planning on eating or cooking them!

 

Attributes
Particularly hardy and resistant to mildew, making this a good variety for organic gardens.
