Woodland Creation and Maintenance Grant: Countryside Stewardship

What's it for?

Funding for new woodland creation and maintenance.

 

Application deadline:

December 31st 2021 (2022 TBC).

 

Who can apply?

Landowners, land managers, landlords and licensors.

 

Incentives:

Up to £6,800 of funding per hectare.

Forest Trees

Woodland Creation Planning Grant

What's it for?

Funding for the design of new woodland.

 

Application deadline:

December 31st 2021 (2022 TBC).

 

Who can apply?

Landowners, land managers, landlords and licensors.

 

Incentives:

Up to £30,000 of funding per project.

England Woodland Creation

What's it for?

Funding to create woodland on areas as small as 1 hectare, including natural colonisation.

 

Application deadline:

December 31st 2021 (2022 TBA).

 

Who can apply?

Landowners, land managers, landlords and licensors.

 

Incentives:

Up to £10,000 of funding per hectare.

Railway Tracks

HS2 Woodland Fund

What's it for?

Funding for restoring plantations on ancient woodland sites and creating new native woodland. Maintenance payments are also available.

 

Application deadline:

March 18th 2022.

 

Who can apply?

Landowners inside the 25-mile zone surrounding the HS2 Phase One route.

 

Incentives:

Up to £8,500 of funding per hectare plus maintenance at £200 per hectare per annum.

Woodland Trust Free Trees

What's it for?

The Woodland Trust gives away hundreds of thousands of free trees every year.

 

Application deadline:

August 25th 2021 (2022 TBA).

 

Who can apply?

Schools & communities.

 

Incentives:

Hundreds of thousands of free trees.

Woodland Trust MOREwoods

What's it for?

Funding for landowners willing to plant over 1.25 acres.

 

Application deadline:

March 2023.

 

Who can apply?

Landowners and land managers.

 

Incentives:

Funding up to 75% of the cost.

Woodland Trust MOREhedges

What's it for?
Funding for landowners willing to plant over 100 metres of new hedging and allow a large tree to grow every six metres.

Application deadline:
March 2023.

Who can apply?
Landowners and land managers.

Incentives:
Funding up to 75% of the cost.

Woodland Trust Trees for Your Farm

What's it for?

Funding for landowners willing to plant over 500 trees.

 

Application deadline:

March 2023.

 

Who can apply?

Landowners and land managers.

 

Incentives:

Funding up to 100% of the cost.

Urban Tree Challenge Fund

What's it for?

Funding for small to medium size planting schemes in urban areas.

 

Application deadline:

July 25th 2021 (2022 TBA).

 

Who can apply?

Anyone can apply, providing they have signed consent from those with management control over the land.

 

Incentives:

The fund provides 50% of published standard costs for planting and establishment.

Branching Out Fund (The Tree Council)

What's it for?

Funding to plant trees and hedgerows in your community.

 

Application deadline:

December 17th 2021 (2022 TBA).

 

Who can apply?

Schools & communities.

 

Incentives:

Funding up to 100% of the cost of strong applications between £300 and £1500.

Trees and Hedgerows for Wildlife & Biodiversity Fund (The Tree Council)

What's it for?
Funding to plant trees and hedgerows with particular emphasis on wildlife and biodiversity.

Application deadline:
December 17th 2021 (2022 TBA).

Who can apply?
Schools & communities.

Incentives:
Funding up to 100% of the cost.

Orchards for Schools (The Tree Council)

What's it for?
Funding to inspire teachers and pupils across the country to get outdoors to connect.

Application deadline:
Whilst stocks last.

Who can apply?
Schools & communities.

Incentives:
Free orchard tree and hedgerow packs.

International Tree Foundation (ITF)

What's it for?
Funding for local UK tree planting projects.

Application deadline:
December 16th 2021 (2022 TBA).

Who can apply?
Local communities.

 

Incentives:
Funding up to £6000.

Funding for Farmers in Protected Landscapes (DEFRA)

What's it for?
Funding to support and improve Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Application deadline:
January 31st 2022.

Who can apply?
Farmers and land managers.

Incentives:
Funding up to 100% of the costs of a project if you will not make a commercial gain.

Ptes Orchard Grants

What's it for?
Funding for traditional orchards.

Application deadline:
TBC

Who can apply?
Owners or managers of existing traditional orchards or existing or new community orchards.

Incentives:
Funding up to £20 per fruit tree.

What's it for?
Funding for capital projects in Wales that will acquire, restore and enhance nature.

Who can apply?
Urban communities

Incentives:
Grants between £10,000–£50,000.

The Northern Forest Grant

What's it for?
Funding for establishing a Northern Forest between Liverpool and Hull.

Application deadline:

Who can apply?
Landowners and land managers

Incentives:
Grants up to 50% of the cost.

Borders Forest Trust Grant

What's it for?
Funding for small-scale tree planting projects in the South of Scotland.

Organisations or individuals.

Incentives:
Funding up to 100% of the cost capped at £1000 per year.

Scottish Government - Woodland Creation Grant

What's it for?
Funding for the creation of new woodland and management.

Application deadline:

Incentives:
Funding up to £6720.
