The Redcurrant (Ribes) Rovada is an award-winning, self-fertile, upright shrub.

Description

This popular, medium-sized Redcurrant displays small fragrant flowers during spring, followed by heavy crops of juicy, large, shiny red fruits in late summer that are great for eating, cooking, juicing, or making jams and syrups.

Planting Position

This Redcurrant is fantastic for pollinators and is often planted in cottage and informal gardens as well as wall-side borders. The Redcurrant Rovada will do well in sheltered areas, full sun to partial shade, and in moist but well-drained soil.

Aftercare

The Redcurrant (Ribes) Rovada requires moderate maintenance. Main pruning is carried out in the dormant season to promote healthy new growth, cutting back the main leaders by a half to one third.

Size

After 2-5 years, the fruit bush can reach a height of 1-1.5m with a 1-1.5m spread.
