The Broadview Walnut is an attractive, self-fertile, heavy-cropping variety that provides multiple seasons of interest.

Description

This compact Walnut displays beautiful green and yellow catkins throughout spring with a distinctive sweet aromatic smell. The Broadview catkins are followed by large, tasty nuts, ready to split open and eat in October.

The Broadview is a compact tree with silvery-grey bark and pinnate foliage changing throughout the seasons from shades of dark green and purple to dark bronze and gold.

Planting Position

This Walnut is a wildlife-friendly addition, suitable for medium to large-sized gardens and is usually grown in wildlife, cottage and informal gardens. The Broadview will do well in sheltered areas in full sun and moist but well-drained soil.

Aftercare

The Broadview requires little maintenance, but with regular pruning, it can be kept to a more manageable size, making it suitable for smaller gardens.

Size

In 10-20 years, the Walnut can reach a height of 8-12m with a 4-8m spread.
