Prunus lusitanica 'Myrtifolia', commonly known as Portuguese Laurel 'Myrtifolia', is an elegant evergreen shrub prized for its glossy, dark green leaves, attractive reddish stems and naturally neat growth habit. A more refined alternative to traditional Cherry Laurel, this hardy variety is ideal for creating dense, formal hedges, year-round privacy screens and attractive garden boundaries.
With its smaller, narrower leaves and compact, bushy appearance, 'Myrtifolia' is particularly well suited to neatly clipped hedging and structured garden designs. Its manageable growth rate and excellent tolerance of pruning make it a popular choice for both smaller gardens and larger landscaping projects.
Available in 3L and 7.5L containers, our Portuguese Laurel plants can be purchased in discounted bundles of 3, 5, 10 or 25 plants, making it easier and more affordable to create your perfect evergreen hedge.

Our Portuguese Laurel hedging plants are grown in containers, allowing them to be planted throughout much of the year, provided the ground is not frozen or waterlogged.
Choose from two container sizes:
3 Litre Container Plants
An economical choice for establishing a new hedge. Ideal for customers who are happy to allow their plants to grow and develop into a dense, established screen over time. These plants are usually around 40-90cm and have 2 or 3 main stems. We would normally recommend planting around 3-4 plants per metre.
7.5 Litre Container Plants
A larger container option, ideal for customers looking for more substantial plants to get their hedging project off to a strong start. These plants tend to be bushier and are usually around 60-100cm. We would normally recommend planting around 2-3 plants per metre.
