Description

The Apricot Compacta® is bred for reliable cropping in a smaller footprint, making it ideal for urban gardens, courtyards and patio pots. It produces medium-sized apricots with a sweet, juicy flavour, suitable for snacking, baking or preserving.

The tree’s naturally compact habit means it is easy to manage and requires less pruning than many other fruit trees. Its firm, flavourful flesh holds up well in desserts, pies and jams, making it a versatile choice for home growers.

Planting & Position

  • Requires full sun for the best fruit production.

  • Ideal for containers, small gardens, or sheltered spots.

  • Prefers well-draining soil with good airflow.

  • Protect blossoms from strong winds in early spring.

  • Light annual pruning helps maintain shape and encourage cropping; seek advice for major pruning.

Aftercare

The Apricot Compacta® benefits from regular watering during dry spells and mulch to retain moisture. In spring, its blossom attracts bees and pollinators, helping ensure a strong fruit set. As the fruit ripens in summer, expect a generous crop of sweet, aromatic apricots, even from a small tree.

This variety is well suited to UK growing conditions and provides a reliable, space-saving way to enjoy homegrown apricots on patios, balconies or compact gardens.
