The Syringa vulgaris Amethyst' is a stunning, upright, ornamental shrub producing a abundance offragrant blooms in vibrant purple. 

 

This beautiful Lilac is a wonderful addition to your garden, attracting bees, birds and butterflies. Small to medium-sized with large, attractive heart-shaped, dark green leaves from spring until autumn. 

 

Planting Position

This Lilac is a low-maintenance addition, suitable for beds, borders and hedges and can be used for informal, cottage and coastal gardens. The Syringa vulgaris 'Amethyst' will do well in sheltered areas, prefers full sun to partial shade and needs moist but well-drained or well-drained soil. 

 

Care and Maintenance

The Syringa vulgaris 'Amethyst' requires little maintenance. In mid-summer, prune immediately after flowering to remove faded flowers before the seeds set. This will increase bloom production the following year.

 

Size

After ten years, the tree can reach a 4m height with a 4m spread.
