Description

The Fig ‘Goutte D’Or’ is a treasure among fruit-bearing trees. This old french variety of fig produces golden-yellow figs with exceptional flavor, and compact growth making it a must-have addition to any garden or patio. Whether you have a small space or a larger landscape, this self-fertile variety will thrive and reward you with abundant harvests.

The Fig ‘Goutte D’Or’ (meaning drop of gold in French) boasts sweet and juicy figs that tantalize the taste buds. Its compact size makes it ideal for smaller gardens and even container cultivation. The large, attractive deciduous leaves add visual appeal. Whether enjoyed fresh or used in culinary creations, these golden figs bring unparalleled pleasure to your palate.

Planting Position

For optimal growth, choose a sunny and sheltered sContainer, preferably against a south-facing wall or fence. Well-draining soil rich in organic matter is essential. While it tolerates various soil conditions, moist and fertile soil yields the best results. Avoid waterlogged areas to prevent root rot.

After Care Tips
- Water regularly during the first few years to establish a strong root system.

- Mulch around the base of the tree to conserve moisture and suppress weed growth.

- Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and remove any dead or damaged branches.

- Fertilize annually with a balanced tree fertilizer to promote healthy growth and fruit production.

- Protect young trees from frost by covering them during cold spells.

Size

After 20 years, the Ficus Goutte D'Or typically reaches a height of around 3-4.5m (10-15 feet) and spreads to a width of 2.5-3.5 meters (8-12 feet). Its compact size makes it suitable for gardens of various sizes, while still providing ample shade and privacy.
