Elaeagnus × ebbingei ‘Compacta’ is a dense, evergreen shrub prized for its neat habit, glossy foliage, and excellent year-round structure. A more compact form of the popular Oleaster, it is ideal for smaller gardens, hedging, or low-maintenance screening. With its silvery-green leaves and subtle autumn flowers, it brings both resilience and understated elegance to a wide range of garden settings.

Key Features:

  • Compact Growth Habit – Naturally dense and tidy, perfect for smaller spaces or low hedging
  • Evergreen Structure – Retains its foliage all year, providing constant coverage and interest
  • Silvery-Green Foliage – Glossy dark green leaves with silvery undersides add texture and light
  • Fragrant Autumn Flowers – Small creamy-white blooms release a sweet scent in autumn
  • Tough & Wind-Tolerant – Excellent for coastal and exposed sites
  • Low Maintenance – Easy to grow and requires minimal pruning

Growth & Size:

  • Growth Rate: Moderate
  • Eventual Height: 2–3 metres (6–10 ft)
  • Eventual Spread: 2–3 metres (6–10 ft)

A slower-growing and more controlled version of standard Elaeagnus ebbingei, making it particularly suitable for tighter spaces or formal planting schemes.
