Overview
Pleached Hornbeam provide a fantastic formal screening option for your garden. They have been trained to provide a high screen above the fence line. Hornbeam has elegantly serrated, ribbed leaves and characteristic grey, fluted bark. The pleached form will often hold its leaves well into winter giving year-round cover.
Description
Pleached hornbeam trees are a traditional plant often seen in more formal gardens. Trained to have a clear stem with the tops are grown on a frame. They stand well to cutting back and have a dense foliage. New Spring growth is a vibrant green turning more colourful in autumn as leaves turn yellow then russet brown.
Planting Position
Can be grown along a fence line. Tolerant of clay soils and can also be grown in large raised planters.
