COVID-19 : Questions & Answers

We realise this is still a time of great uncertainty for many of us and we're all doing everything we can to get through this time.

Gardening is a wonderful way to pass the time, get out into nature and feel the positivity from the plants. We are still taking orders and will deliver across the country as long as our valuable delivery partners continue to be able to do so. We continue to monitor the guidelines and advice from the UK Government and Public Health England and are committed to making the right decisions for our customers.

Our team here at Bowhayes are working under new Covid-safe conditions and we have put in measures to ensure their safety and the safety of any visitors to our site.

Q. Are you still open for business?

A. Our Retail Nursery site in Venn Ottery is open by appointment currently. If you would like to "click and collect" your order, you are welcome to do so. Please call us on 01404 812229 or email to arrange this. Alternatively, should you wish to view the plants in the Nursery or discuss your planting requirements, we ask that at the moment, you make an appointment to do this to minimise the number of people in the Nursery site and to keep our staff safe. However, we are still open as usual for online ordering. We continue to get as many of our Nursery products up on our website to extend the range available for you so you can carry on gardening. We are hoping to reopen the Nursery site shortly for drop-in visits and have been working hard behind the scenes to get it ready and looking great with lots of lovely stock. We will let you all know when it's open again.

Q. Are you still taking orders?

A. At this time, we are still taking orders and can deliver across the UK using our fantastic delivery partners.

Q. How does this affect the delivery time for my order?

A. We are still taking and dispatching orders, however, we estimate the deliery time can be up to 20 working days to keep up with the increase in demand. We will be in touch as soon as possible if we are unable to process your order or if for any reason the lead time will be longer than this. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Q. How does a delay in delivery affect my bare root plants?

A. Bare root plants are dormant from November through to end March and during this time, lifting and moving the plants has limited impact on their future growth potential. With mst of our popular hedging stock, we have a cold store on site which holds the plants in their dormant state and protects them once lifted. With the larger bare root plants and trees, these are often lifted to order. This process is currently taking longer than normal due to the high volume of orders we are processing at this time. Please be assured we will enusre your plants are shipped to you as soon as we can so you can get them back in the ground where they belong and will be most happy.

Q. Will I need to sign for my delivery?

A. Our delivery partners are operating contact-free deliveries in order to comply with government guidelines and keep us all safe. You will not be asked to sign anything.

Q. Can I collect from the Nursery?

A. If you would like to collect from the Nursery, please contact us and we can arrange a contact-free collection by appointment.
